Taylor Tompkins is in his first term as magistrate for District 2.
Taylor is a lifelong resident of Henderson County and a 1996 graduate of Henderson County High School. He attended both Henderson Community College and ITT Technical Institute before starting a 22-year career with AT&T. In his time with the company he has served in many capacities, most recently as the Program and Service Manager for AT&T's Next Generation 911 ESINet Program in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. In this role he manages a $145 million engagement in the National Capital Region with responsibilities in budget management, construction, personnel management and equipment deployment.
In The Community
In his free time Taylor coaches youth sports. His true passion is the great outdoors. Tompkins not only enjoys hunting and fishing but is particularly interested in wildlife conservation and responsible land management. He cohosted WSON's "Living Outdoors" weekly radio show where he facilitated callers, questions, and lively discussions about our area's natural resources and wildlife, along with consulting private land owners on managing their recreational properties.
Personal Life
Taylor and his wife, Frances, have been married for 22 years and have two children, Madi and Wesley.
