Henderson County to provide assistance to those cleaning homes after flood
HENDERSON, Ky. - Beginning Monday, March 12, the Henderson County Road Department will assist Henderson County property owners impacted by recent flooding by accepting home furnishings, flooring, appliances, drywall and other water-damaged debris at two drop-off points in the Reed-Beals area.
From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, dumpsters set up in parking lots at Cagey’s Store in Beals and near the intersection of U.S. 60-East and St. Augustine Church Road in Reed will be available for local residents to bring their flood-damaged home materials at no charge. The dumpsters are only for home debris ruined by the flood. No normal household garbage or items such as old tires or paint will be accepted. Road department personnel will be on-had to help screen debris brought to the dumpsters. To emphasize, NO REGULAR HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE WILL BE ACCEPTED.
The dumpsters will be available at both locations until they are filled, at which time the county will begin to alternate days the dumpsters are open (for example, at Cagey’s one day and in Reed the next). The dumpsters will be put out for the rest of this month. A decision on whether to extend the service into April will be made at a later date. Area residents are urged not to simply burn flood-damaged home debris, which may violate state air quality regulations.
For more information, contact the Henderson County Road Department at (270) 826-8843 between 8 a.m. and 3:30 Monday through Friday.
