Bill Starks is in his first term as magistrate for District 5
For nearly four decades Bill served as news director for Henderson radio station WSON AM/FM under the stage name Bill Stephens. In addition to reporting the day-to-day happenings in Henderson and the surrounding area, he also hosted the popular “Speak Up” daily public affairs program. Bill retired in September of 2022 just before being elected to Fiscal Court.
In The Community
Bill has served on a variety of boards and commissions, including the YMCA board and City Parks board. He also has been involved in a number of Community Theater productions and has directed eighth-grade plays at Holy Name School. In conjunction with his duties as magistrate, Bill serves on the City-County Cooperative Study committee, the County Parks Committee and the Henderson County Board of Health.
Personal Life
Bill and his wife, Kim, have been together for over 38 years and have two grown sons, Jordan and Matt, who are both University of Kentucky graduates and have their master’s degrees.
